BlackBerry Mobile Phones
BlackBerry is a mobile device first introduced back in 1999. Originally, the BlackBerry was designed as a two-way pager system but in 2002 the BlackBerry smartphone as we know it today was released. BlackBerry was developed by the Candian-based company Resarch In Motion (RIM), and focused heavily on feautures such as push email, web browsing, internet faxing and other wireless internet features.
While having many of the features of a standard mobile phone (contact list, calendar, SMS support etc.) as one of the originial smartphones, the BlackBerry made it's name for it's ability to send and receive emails through the phone itself. This made it one of the first phones on the market where you could access your emails remotely, making it extremely popular for business-people.
Almost all BlackBerry's come with a full QWERTY keyboard which doubles as the phone numeric keypad, with a couple of models utilising a full touch-screen. Navigation around the software is done primarily with a scroll ball.
Preesently, BlackBerry is the world's second most popular smartphone platform, accounting for 21% of smartphone sales in Q2, 2009.
