NEC Mobile Phones

Japan is known for its technological advancement and NEC has been around long enough to be one of the countrys leading companies that support this claim.

NEC Mobile Phone Company History

The former Nippon Electric Company, Limited began in 1898. At the onset, the company dealt with the production, sales and maintenance of telephones as well as switches. Through the years it has studied the development of telecommunication technology and manufacture of communication devices which brought about the more modern version of the NEC mobile phones.

Renamed as NEC in 1983, the company ushered in the modern age with an even more aggressive plunge into the industry. NEC's business is divided into the three parts: IT Solutions, Network Solutions and Electronic Devices.

Among the many achievements of the company is the creation of the fastest supercomputer of the period and the production of the Earth Simulator. The NEC Semiconductor side of the conglomerate is also included in the Top 20 Semiconductor Sales Leaders worldwide. Despite its many feats, it is NECs mobile phones that is well known even beyond Japan.

NEC Mobile Phone Technology

Once a leading manufacturer of mobile phones in the Asia-Pacific region, NEC took a backseat in the late 1990s when Nokia and Motorola pioneered the digital telecommunications movement. It was only in the early 2000s when NEC mobile phones again entered the market, this time featuring all the latest technologies to put it at par with the market leaders. NEC Mobile Phones are now steadily claiming a generous market share because of their innovative designs.

Portability has always been a key feature of NEC mobile phones, even in the days of the rather unwieldy Motorola DynaTAC (which weighed over 700g). This feature continues to be the brand's main selling point with its slim, sleek and very modern-looking handsets. While it has a long way to go to catch up with market leaders Nokia and Sony Ericsson, NEC is steadily gaining progress in the Australian market.
