Could Pre-Paid Credit Be The Answer For 3G Internet Services?
Monday November 24, 2008
Not everyone is suited to using a contract for 3G Internet services for mobiles, and pre-paid services can sometimes be preferable. While it can certainly be possible to wind up running out of credit at the worst possible time, using pre-paid credit for Internet on 3G mobiles or for Web access with a 3G modem can help to avoid excess usage charges.
Avoiding excess usage charges can be more important than you think if you have yet to experience how high they can be. Most 3G Internet providers charge extremely high amounts for excess data usage, even upwards of $250 per extra gigabyte (though often charges are made based on blocks of a single megabyte). Pre-paid credit means that you can not only avoid these very high extra charges, you can actually get better value when you end up needing more credit, as you merely pay for more at the normal rate rather than at the extremely high excess rates on contracts.
As mobile phone technologies utilise 3G Internet access more and more, economical plans and pre-paid options will need to become more common, yet network limitations may act against this. Be sure to look for the best priced plans for your 3G Internet usage in order to save more on what you pay for using mobiles.
