Networking with mobiles
26 September 2008
Mobiles offer a great opportunity for easy networking, as taking down and storing numbers is so easy. It is important to be careful with your mobile phone number, however, as some people are less worthy of trusting with your mobile phone number than others.
While you may think that you wouldn't mind getting called by any of the people that you have given your number to, the real question is whether you want to get called by the people that they have given your number to. Promotional offers that ask for mobile phone numbers are very popular, so if you ever wondered why you have gotten telemarketing calls or text messages when you haven't given your number to any organisations, look to your friends.
Some people do not mind receiving marketing messages and they can be oblivious to the fact that many people dislike being contacted by marketers. When networking, before giving someone your number you may want to stress that you like to keep your number quite private. Most people should pick up on this enough to avoid giving out your number frivolously.
