Samsung B510

Wednesday January 21, 2009

The Samsung B510 is possibly a sign of greatly diverging paths in the design of mobiles. While smartphones and similar devices are certainly becoming much more popular with some users of mobiles, other users seem to be longing for the days of smaller, simpler mobiles. It is for this other set of users that the Samsung B510 appears to be designed.

The Samsung B510 works on 2G GSM networks and may use both EDGE and GPRS networks for access to data, but no 3G support. In this age of 3G mobiles and their growing popularity, the lack of 3G support in the Samsung B510 seems almost unheard of, but not everyone is interested in the newer mobile phone technologies and what they offer.

The Samsung B510 has almost no extra features - even the MP3 playback capability is probably only present due to it possibly taking more effort not to include it. With only 4MB of internal storage and no card slot to expand the memory of the Samsung B510, the Samsung B510 isn't really a good choice for the multimedia junkie. Those who are after just a basic mobile phone, however, can finally rejoice as the Samsung B510 is just that. It handles voice calls, messages and is capable of basic Web browsing - that's all. No unnecessary bells and whistles for the Samsung B510.
