Smartphones Ahead
Wednesday June 10, 2009
Smartphones are no longer far removed from mainstream affordability, and that is proven by mobile provider reports on their positive sales. The iPhone is a household name among many Australians, and now when you mention a Blackberry to anyone from Gen X and beyond, they know exactly what you are talking about - not fruit. However, if you are thinking about joining the ranks of smartphone owners, you may be interested in what is coming up just around the corner.
The hotly anticipated Palm Pre is expected to be released in the US by the end of the week, and it boasts iTunes compatibility and an impressive user interface. We will hopefully see it in Australian stores over the next few months. There's also heavy rumours about a new iPhone, and if these prove to be grounded, you can expect that Apple will have them here before Christmas.
HTC has been bringing out some good stuff with its Android OS, and its new Magic smartphone will be in our hot hands before the end of the month. Let's hope it lives up to the lofty expectations. Blackberry fans aren't left out either, and the rumour mill is turning at full throttle with a suggested new release coming soon. Even current iPhone owners have something to rejoice.
It all depends on how badly you need a smartphone, how long you are willing to wait and the sort of deal you can wrangle. However, buying a new smartphone now could be a bit like buying a new car right before the next model comes out. Nothing wrong with that, and at this pace, the next smartphone is always around the corner, but make sure you are getting the best deals on smartphones.
